"Job Fair" - Season 4

Jim is wearing his best golfing uniform because he is hitting the links with a potential client, Phil Maguire. This is a very important account for Jim because he needs to look good to Ryan, who recently put him on probation for his job performance. Andy and Kevin are also joining in the game to show their support.

Michael is heading to the local high school for the job fair. Michael, Oscar, and Darrell hope to find interns who want to work at Dunder Mifflin. Michael brings Pam for eye candy and also because the job fair is at her alma mater. The high school brings back memories for Pam.

With most of the employees at the job fair or the golf course, Dwight is left in charge of the remaining staff. Stanley defies Dwight and leaves early. Dwight warns the others that if they do the same, there will be consequences, such as telling on them to Michael.

Jim's golf game isn't going too well, but he knows he has to woo Phil. Meanwhile, back at the job fair, Michael makes Pam go back to the office to get more paper - Dunder Mifflin paper. Pam calls Jim to vent, but Jim really doesn’t have the time to listen to her because he has to focus on his game.

Creed, Phyllis, and Meredith all sneak out of work early, leaving just Angela and Dwight at the office. Dwight is doing his best to ignore Angela and still can't believe the other employees defied his authority and left early.

Earlier, Michael had shunned an interested student for not being smart or good looking enough. Now he realizes that Justin may be their only possibility as an intern. He brings Justin back and butters him up.

Michael even tells Justin there is a possibility the office hottie, Pam, might do him if he joins their Dunder Mifflin team. Pam leaves in disgust. Justin reminds Michael that earlier when he was interested, Michael was kind of a jerk to him. Justin searches for another business booth.

Mr. Maguire tells Jim that despite the game of golf, he is still going to pass on Dunder Mifflin's offer. Jim realizes that he should never give up and stops Phil's car to persuade him to sign with Dunder Mifflin. Phil respects Jim's tenaciousness. Jim closes the deal and is feeling pretty good about it.

After Michael fails to attract one potential intern, he takes his frustrations out on the job fair. Using a microphone, he makes his case on why Dunder Mifflin is such a cool place to work. Security approaches Michael and he quickly wraps up his speech.

Michael feels defeated as he, Pam, Oscar, and Darrell head back to the office. Jim, Andy, and Kevin are already there, celebrating with beer. Pam is so proud of Jim and greets him with a huge kiss as the others look on. Michael realizes that if somebody as great as Jim works at Dunder Mifflin, it can't be such a bad job, after all.

Earlier in the day, Pam took the time to browse the job fair for herself. She came across a booth for graphic design. She looked at brochures and the man running the booth told her about the programs she needed to get familiar with in order to become a graphic designer. He also said if she wanted to follow her passion for art design, New York and Philadelphia are the cities to do it in. Pam leaves, thinking about what the man said.

"Did I Stutter?" - Season 4

Pam is sporting a new look at work with her glasses. She admits she spent the night at a "friend's" house and forgot her contact solution. Michael makes sure to point out that the glasses make her look ugly, and if she wants to be hot, the glasses need to come off.

Michael is trying to find a way to "energize" his team. Michael calls a meeting and is open to suggestions. Andy suggests adding zing and pip to the Dunder Mifflin answering machine. Michael even thinks a rap would be good.

Michael tries to get Stanley to chime in and he refuses. After Michael's constant badgering, Stanley raises his voice and says, "Did I stutter?" Michael leaves the meeting shocked by Stanley's outburst. Toby thinks Michael should take action and address the problem.

Dwight discovers Andy is selling his SUV and offers to buy it for $1,500 below the asking price. Andy thinks about Dwight's offer. Dwight refuses to leave until the car is his and Andy shakes his hand on the deal. Dwight has himself a used SUV and in return flips the car for a higher profit, much to Andy's dismay.

Michael turns to Dwight for advice on to handle Stanley. Dwight presents a chart that describes everybody's role at Dunder Mifflin when it comes to authority. He also presents Michael with an emergency chart that puts Dwight in charge of everybody if Michael grants him the power. Michael refuses Dwight's offer to take power.

Kevin approaches Pam and tells her it's a turn-on for women to wear glasses. Pam is left feeling uncomfortable and takes off her glasses, determined to work without them. Jim observes Pam struggling as she tries to answer the phone and take messages while practically blind.

Michael tells the staff that he is going to fake firing Stanley. He "fires" Stanley in front of the entire staff. Stanley can't believe he's serious. He retaliates by telling Michael he's filing a lawsuit and taking Michael down with him. Michael begins to worry and takes the "firing" back. Stanley blows up at Michael for his behavior.

Michael demands everybody leave but Stanley – the showdown has begun. Stanley tells Michael he has lost respect for him and Michael begins to tear up. Michael reminds Stanley that he is his boss whether he likes it or not and he needs to treat Michael like a boss. Stanley agrees and they shake hands on it.

The next Dunder Mifflin meeting goes well when Stanley gives positive feedback to Michael. Michael is happy with his response, but not happy when Phyllis calls Michael's idea dumb. Michael demands everybody leave the meeting; it's Phyllis' turn to have a talk about authority.

"Night Out" - Season 4

Ryan returns to Scranton but not to a warm welcome. He is making everyone in the branch come in on a Saturday to re-enter data into the new website. Michael makes it clear that Ryan is the reason they have to come in on the weekend. The rest of the staff aren't happy knowing a computer will be getting credit for all of their sales.

After Ryan gives a lackluster speech about social networking, Michael takes him aside and begs him to set him up with some New York women. Ryan declines, but does tell Michael that the women at clubs in New York are gorgeous.

Michael is desperate to find a girl so he grabs Dwight for a guys' night out in New York. They meet up with Ryan and he surprises them with hugs. Meanwhile, back in Scranton, Jim orchestrates the idea of having the employees work late on Friday so they don't have to come in on Saturday. They all love the idea.

Everybody is in a good mood at the Scranton branch because they finished their work early and don't have to come in on Saturday. One problem: Jim didn't alert security that they would be working late and now they are all locked in the parking lot. Pam locked the doors from the inside, leaving the employees stranded.

Michael and Dwight are confused by Ryan's odd behavior and his frequent trips to the bathroom but they go along with it and are having a good time. Michael keeps striking out with the ladies, but Dwight gets lucky on a bar couch. Michael takes the opportunity to take a picture with his phone and send it back to his co-workers at Scranton. They all react in disgust when they receive it.

Jim and Pam are feeling the heat from the rest of the staff for being locked inside the parking lot. Things don't get any better when Pam accidentally hits Meredith with a football. Meanwhile, Jim is trying to get a hold of Hank the security guard, who is clearly taking his time getting to Dunder Mifflin to unlock the gates.

While waiting for Hank to arrive, a tense moment occurs when Toby seductively puts his hand on Pam's knee in front of Jim. Everybody sees this and Toby reacts in embarrassment. He announces he's moving to Costa Rica and jumps the security fence to jog home, leaving the rest of the employees speechless.

The cleaning service shows up to start their overnight shift at Dunder Mifflin. Oscar explains what has happened and they kindly unlock the gate and everybody is free to go home. Of course, Hank the security guard shows up and isn't too happy to see he made the trip for nothing.

Fellow clubgoers beat Ryan up on the dance floor after he gets out of control. Dwight and Michael take him back to his apartment and Dwight offers to sing a sick Ryan to sleep. Michael brings up the fact that he's not about the horniness, he's about the loneliness, and how could he be lonely with his boys by his side?

"Chair Model" - Season 4

Pam is becoming more and more annoyed with Michael and his indecisiveness about ordering a desk chair. In Michael's defense, he's become distracted by his crush on the woman who is modeling the chair in the catalogue. He reminds Pam that since the infamous dinner party, he is now a single man.

Michael announces to the office that he is now on the market. He's hoping one of his co-workers will come forward and want to set him up with somebody. Kevin informs Michael that Stacy broke up with him and now he's back on the market, too.

There is more chaos at the Scranton branch because of the parking lot situation. The employees at a construction business in the building have taken all the available spaces, leaving Dunder Mifflin employees having to park blocks away and walk. Andy and Kevin are determined to get their parking spaces back.

Michael gives all of his employees the assignment of finding him a date. They all have to submit a card with one name on it of a woman Michael can date. Jim starts off with Pam's mom – a card she immediately throws away. The batch of cards comes in and Michael can't find one suitable date.

Dwight walks in and tells Michael he will find the chair model for him. Michael likes the sound of that and Dwight's officially on a mission. Dwight follows his leads and he finds out the woman has died in a car accident. This devastates Michael. He's lost his dream girl before he ever got a chance to know her.

Pam can't stand to see Michael in pain she so she sets him up with her landlady. They agree to meet in a coffee shop and he doesn't like what he sees. Michael is rude to Margaret and the date ends awkwardly when he walks out.

When Pam finds out the blind date didn't go well, Jim reminds her that it means she'll probably get kicked out of her building and be forced to find a new place to live. Jim calls her bluff and invites her to move in with him. She says she'll only move in if she's engaged. Jim says she needs to hang tight because that next step is coming soon. Later on, by himself, Jim shows off the ring he really did buy one week after he and Pam started dating.

After Andy and Kevin meet with the four other businesses in their building, they fight and win their parking spaces back. Andy and Kevin announce it to the rest of the employees and receive cheers. Later on, Andy celebrates with a dance in the parking lot.

Michael is still depressed that he hasn't found a girl to date. Dwight says Michael needs to go to the source of his depression and try to seek closure. The two end up at the gravesite for the chair model. Michael says his final goodbyes. Dwight tells Michael to hang in there because next year's catalogue will be out in no time and he'll find another chair model to fall in love with.

"Dinner Party" - Season 4

Michael stages an elaborate plan to finally get Pam and Jim over to his and Jan's place for a dinner party. Jim gets trapped into it and agrees to go. Dwight overhears and wants his invitation, too. Michael says he only has six wine glasses and with Andy and Angela going too, there's not enough room for Dwight.

Jim and Pam join the dinner party armed with a bottle of wine. Jan delivers the tour of the place which includes a busted sliding-glass door, an office for Jan and a workroom for Jan. She needs both rooms for the candle-making company she's trying to launch, "Serenity by Jan."

Jim and Pam have no clue how to react when they see the bench Michael is forced to sleep on because of Jan's space issues. It is also obvious that Jan has jealousy issues with a very nervous Pam. Andy and Angela arrive, eager to get the dinner party started. Jan lets her guests know that dinner will be ready in three hours.

The couples gather in the living room to drink their wine and Jan puts on some music. She suggests they listen to her old assistant Hunter's new CD: "The Hunted." The first song is clearly about Hunter's sexual encounter with an older woman. Jan tries to get Jim to dance to no avail.

The games begin and that's when things get really awkward. While playing a game of "Celebrity," Jan calls Michael out for not being funny. Jim thinks the two are playing another game all together, called "Let's see how uncomfortable we can make our guests," and so far, they are both winning.

Jim lies and says he just received word that his apartment has flooded and he and Pam need to leave. Michael points out that Jim can leave, but Pam has no excuse. Pam tells Jim to buy new furniture, because he's staying. Michael seconds that notion and Jim's back in the game.

Jan summons a girls' trip into the kitchen where she says she knows about Pam and Michael's history as lovers. Pam swears up and down that there has never been anything going on with Michael, ever. Meanwhile, Michael tries to get Jim and Andy to invest in Serenity by Jan. The moment is cut short when Dwight arrives with wine glasses and a date!

Jim has questions for Dwight's date. She tells the table they met when she used to babysit Dwight. He assures the guests that their relationship is purely carnal. Jan and Michael have a fight at the dinner table, which results in Michael grabbing his old neon beer sign from storage and putting it back up on the dining room wall. This angers Jan even more.

Jan retaliates by putting on Hunter's song again. Michael slams Jan's business adventure and then Jan throws a Dundie at Michael's prized $200 plasma television. Michael wishes Jan luck in paying him back since she's jobless and makes no money. Jan bursts into tears and runs to the bathroom while the party guests make a beeline for the door.

The cops show up after the neighbors report a disturbance. The police suggest that Michael stay somewhere else for the night until things calm down with Jan. Dwight offers to take Michael to his place. Later on, Jim and Pam get takeout and listen to Hunter's song in the car, Andy and Angela get ice cream, and Dwight drives Michael back to his place.

"The Deposition" - Season 4

Michael is driving to New York with Jan where he is going to speak at her deposition. Jan is suing Dunder Mifflin for four million dollars over her wrongful termination. Michael is excited to testify and has memorized every answer Jan told him to.

The warehouse bought a ping-pong table and Jim has taken it upon himself to spend his lunches playing. Pam quickly realizes her boyfriend must be a 12-year-old boy. Pam also notices that Kelly is taking it a step too far by trash talking Pam because her boyfriend, Darryl is beating Jim.

Michael is getting flustered with all the questioning at Jan's deposition. Even answering "that's what she said" at one point. Just when things look like they can't get worst, the infamous Sandals picture was presented as proof that Michael and Jan were involved before the original date Michael had stated.

Pam surprises Jim with a set-up ping-pong table in the conference room so he can get his practice in. She's more set on showing up Kelly when it comes to whose boyfriend is better at ping-pong. Jim challenges Dwight to a match and is surprised to lose.

Michael's diary entries are presented into evidence for proof that Michael and Jan had thought that the fling in Jamaica was a one-time thing and not a relationship. Dunder Mifflin's attorneys wanted copies made of Michael's diary so they could examine it themselves. Michael can't believe Jan gave her attorneys his diary in the first place.

Dunder Mifflin presented Michael with a copy of his last performance review that Jan gave him. There, Jan makes it clear that Michael should not be a manager. When Michael questions Jan, she presents Michael with David Wallace's own transcription of his response when asked if Michael should have Jan's job. The transcription clearly says that David never thought of Michael as a candidate for the job, just that he was a "good guy."

Pam gets sick and tired of Kelly's trash talking and challenges her to a game of ping-pong. After it's made very clear that neither girl is good at the game, Jim and Darryl decide to play ping-pong upstairs in the conference room.

Despite hearing that David didn't think Michael was a good fit for Jan's job, Michael still sides with Dunder Mifflin. As Jan storms out in anger, Michael stops David and tells him he thinks he's a good guy too, despite his feelings for Michael as Corporate material and David thanks him. Michael privately confesses, "You always expect to get screwed by your employer, but you never expect to get screwed by your girlfriend."
