"Michael's Birthday" - Season 2

Michael was in a buoyant mood when he arrived at the office on his birthday. At the same time, Kevin was in a less-than-enthusiastic frame of mind as he anxiously waited for medical results to come in.

When no one was looking, Michael put a box of donuts in the kitchen and then pretended that someone else brought them in to celebrate his birthday.

Kevin was told he might have skin cancer, but he was still waiting on a second opinion.

Depressed that no one cared about his birthday, Michael retreated to his office to stuff his face full of donuts and commiserate with Dwight - the only staffer to sign his birthday card.

At 11:23, Dwight announced that this was the exact moment of Michael's birth. Borrowing a Jewish custom, he sat Michael down in a chair and asked everyone in the office to help hoist him into the air.

To cheer up Kevin, Pam and Jim hit the store and bought him all of his favorite goodies. At the checkout line, Jim dared Pam to make a storewide announcement. Jim's eyes lit up when Pam actually went through with it.

After Michael blew out his birthday cake candles, he turned to see Meredith giving Kevin a hug and asked why no one had hugged him. Angela told Michael that no one cared about his birthday. Michael was more upset about the timing of Kevin's announcement than by the announcement itself.

Toby advised Kevin to get off the "terrible" Dunder-Mifflin health care plan. As they talked, Michael came by with good news: 99% of people with skin cancer fully recover, so there was no reason they couldn't have fun celebrating his birthday.

Michael announced that they were all going to take Kevin to a special place that was in no way related to his birthday. But when they arrived at an ice-skating rink, the first thing everyone saw was a huge banner proclaiming, "Happy Birthday, Michael!"

While most of the staff struggled to skate, Michael tore up the ice - he'd been skating since he was a kid. At the rink, Michael ran into Carole, the woman who sold him his condo. She was there with her two kids. Michael offered to take them "on a ride," and Carole watched with a big smile as he pulled the laughing kids around the ice with a hockey stick.

Kevin's second opinion finally came in and the results were negative. With that good news, everyone sat down to give Michael his birthday gifts and to have some cake together. "It was a good day," Pam said with a smile.

"Take Your Daughter to Work Day" - Season 2

Pam was looking forward to "Take Your Daughter to Work Day" because she wasn't great with kids, but she was about to get married and wanted to take this opportunity to get better.

It didn't take Michael long to stick his foot in his mouth when he told Stanley's daughter, who was in the eighth grade, that she was turning into a "stone cold fox." The day was also awkward for Ryan - all the kids around made Kelly beam at the thought of marrying Ryan and having babies.

Pam had a single goal for the day: Make one kid like her. She first tried with Abbey, Kevin's fiancée's daughter, but she didn't have any luck. However, she jealously looked on as Abbey took to Jim like a fish to water.

Michael made a friend of his own: Sasha, the daughter of Michael's sworn enemy from HR, Toby. Meanwhile, Meredith's troublemaking son was getting on Dwight's nerves by referring to him as "Mr. Poop."

Kelly couldn't wait to point out to Stanley that Melissa was innocently flirting with Ryan. Though Ryan did nothing to encourage this, Stanley yelled at Ryan, warning him to stop "sniffing" around his child.

Michael kicked Dwight out of the conference room just as he was about to teach the kids how to make corn husk dolls. Instead, Michael took them on a sprightly tour of the office, though none of them found it particularly entertaining.

Over pizza, Michael treated the kids and the entire staff to some clips of "Fundle Bundle," a kid's show he appeared on as a child. Everyone in the room was stunned silent when little Michael Scott told a puppet that when he grew up, he wanted to be married and have 100 kids and 100 friends so "no one could say no to being my friend." When the sad realization hit Michael that he hadn't achieved his childhood goals, he headed back to his office alone.

Toby came to Michael's office to drop off the toys Michael gave Sasha to play with, finding him alone and depressed. After some supportive words from Toby, Michael decided to sign up for an online dating service to help get the ball rolling on finding a wife and having kids. His username? "LittleKidLover."

Pam finally succeeded in winning over one of the kids over when she showed Meredith's son how to shred paper. The day ended with Michael and Dwight performing a children's song duet for everyone.

"Dwight's Speech" - Season 2

Jim wasn't happy about it, but Dwight was Dunder-Mifflin's top salesperson of the year, an honor that got him some prize money and an award at an upcoming sales convention. An already bad day got more awkward when Jim learned that Pam got her wedding dress and had set a date. To avoid the situation, Jim decided to go on a vacation the week of Pam's wedding.

Dwight wasn't ready to make his big speech at the sales convention so he turned to Michael for advice. Michael told him that it wasn't what he said but how he said it. To demonstrate, Michael used a commanding voice to inform the entire office that they were each getting a $1,000 bonus (it wasn't true).

At their desks, Jim told Dwight that he majored in public speaking in college and advised Dwight to wave his arms and pound his fists. He also gave him a speech that was made by the Italian dictator Mussolini.

Dwight looked panicked when he entered the conference room to find it packed with hundreds of people. When Dwight was called to the podium, he went into total panic mode and Michael took the stage on his behalf. A series of corny and offensive jokes left the audience stone-faced.

The audience applauded tepidly when Dwight finally ran up to the podium to replace Michael. Clearing his throat, Dwight launched into his Mussolini speech, ranting and raving and pounding his fists like a madman. "Salesmen of the world unite!" The audience? Well, they.. uh.. they loved it! Michael, on the other hand, snuck out with his shoulders slumped.

After much deliberation and advice, Jim finally bought a ticket to Australia. Pam looked heartbroken to learn that he was leaving right before her wedding. Michael was also heartbroken, but not because of the wedding - his speech bombed while Dwight managed to entertain thousands.

"Valentine's Day" - Season 2

It's Valentine's Day at the office and Pam looks forward to it because everyone gives cards. She made Roy promise to not get anything too big, though, because of plans for the wedding.

Michael is leaving for New York and Dwight wants to know if he's seeing Jan because it's Valentine's Day. Michael says it's a business trip and they shouldn't talk about what happened between them - but it is still Valentine's Day.

Jim doesn't have to worry about Valentine's Day because he broke up with Katy. He plans on inviting friends over and having a poker game instead.

Dwight has a package on his desk and is immediately suspicious of what it is. He opens it to find a bobblehead Dwight. Angela clearly gave it to him and he's psyched.

Jim talks to Kelly in the kitchen. She tells him that she and Ryan hooked up and she wants to be his girlfriend. Jim knows this is heading for disaster.

He asks Pam for advice on what to get his "girlfriend" for Valentine's Day. She says the gift is sometimes more about the gesture than the thing itself.

Michael feels a lot of pressure before his presentation to corporate. He hobnobs with the other managers before they go in for the presentation. They talk about Jan and Michael says she's his girlfriend. The other managers press him and he admits they only hooked up once.

Kelly asks Ryan if he wants to hang out that night, but he says he has plans with his friends. She's dismayed and talks Jim's ear off all day about it. Jim finally levels with her and says Ryan isn't that into it and she needs to suck it up. He then invites her to his poker game that night.

Jan and the new CEO come down to the conference room, and she says she's nervous because Michael is an idiot - and it reflects on her. Michael's presentation is a video of the office, set to a U2 song. He highlights all the employees from the office and it has nothing to do with what the CEO is looking for.

The CEO tells Michael that the video was great but he wants to know about the branch's performance instead. Michael is upset that he has to simply pass out financial numbers. One of the other managers didn't bring any financials, and then blurts out that he should've slept with Jan also. Jan is afraid she's going to get fired. Michael says he'll fix it and talk to the CEO.

Roy visits Pam at her desk and she says she's disappointed that he didn't get her anything.

Michael tells the CEO that he was making a joke and says that Jan is a terrific executive and has all the integrity in the world. The CEO buys it. She thanks him by the elevator and then kisses him on the lips - "Happy Valentine's Day."

"Boys and Girls" - Season 2

Jan comes to the office to talk to all the women about their roles in the workplace. Michael tries to interrupt even though Jan told him five different times to stay out. She says as his boss, he needs to leave - it's for women only.

Michael hates the idea of women talking on their own without him being involved, so he decides to bring all the boys together for a "guys in the workplace" seminar to combat the women's. Michael brings the boys to the warehouse to find out how the warehouse works.

Michael introduces all the warehouse staff. Kevin takes Jim aside and tells him that Roy probably heard about him liking Pam but he has his back if anything goes down. The warehouse guys are incredibly annoyed that they're not going to get their shipping done in time.

Jan asks all the women to say what they're good at and Angela belittles Phyllis. Pam says she doesn't really fit in with any of the women. She mentions that she really likes drawing but hasn't done much since college. Jan tells Pam that there's a graphic design course on the weekends that the company can help her out with if she's interested.

Roy tells Jim they're cool - he knows Jim doesn't have a crush on Pam anymore. Michael operates a forklift and knocks rows and rows of packages over. The warehouse guys are livid. Michael brings them all together in a circle and wants to know, as men, what's their beef? The warehouse guys realize that they work a lot harder than Michael and his team, but they get paid a lot less. As a result of this little session, the warehouse guys decide to unionize. Michael doesn't know what he's gotten himself into.

Jan tells the girls to dress for the job they want, not the job they have. Angela says she's not gaining anything from the seminar. Jan also says there's an issue of inequality of pay between men and women.

Michael tells Jan about the possibility of the warehouse guys forming a union. She yells at him to take care of the problem. Back downstairs, Michael takes all the warehouse foam and dumps it in the fan to create "winter."

The girls ask Jan about her personal life. She gets uncomfortable and checks on Michael in the warehouse. Jan tells the warehouse guys that if they unionize they're all going to lose their jobs, and if they have any questions, to direct them to Michael.

Pam tells Roy about the graphic design opportunity and he clearly is not in favor of the idea. Jim tells her that she has to take a chance on something sometimes. She gets defensive and says she's fine with her choices.

Michael continues messing with the forklift and basically destroys the entire warehouse. He buys pizza for everyone to ease the pain of the mess. Michael says in order to run an office, you need men and women because you need to have crazy sexual tension to keep things interesting.
