Michael introduces Katy around the office. While doing so, he tries to embarrass other employees as he introduces her so they can't squeeze in on his game. Michael says he lives by one rule - no office romances. But he also lives by another rule - just do it.

Jim tells Dwight that Katy would be perfect for him. They're both salespeople. He says just keep talking to her no matter what. And worse case scenario - just buy a purse to fall back on. Jim psyches him up and has Dwight go hit on Katy. Dwight ends up buying a purse instead.

Michael speculates it could be more than just a ride. Dwight asks him for this one favor - to promise it's just a ride home. Michael says no.

Michael says he's a ladies man and women are attracted to power. But at the end of the day, Katy tells Michael he's off the hook because Jim is taking her instead. Michael is despondent but doesn't show it.

"Basketball" - Season 1

Michael's brilliant idea was about to pay off: That afternoon, the office staff and the warehouse staff were going to face off against each other in a basketball game.

Others, like Phyllis, really wanted to play, but Michael shot them down, basing his decisions on gender and ethnic stereotypes. And to make the game even more interesting, the loser would have to work on Saturday.

Game time! Stanley, Michael's "secret weapon," immediately turned the ball over to the warehouse guys who took it to the goal. As it turned out, Jim and Ryan were the only ones from the office staff who could actually play. Michael, who talked a big game, was the worst of the lot.

After taking a beating, Michael called a time-out to regroup his team. Jim volunteered to cover Roy, the warehouse's best player. The tide started to change with Jim sinking shot after shot. Even Dwight and Phyllis had a chance to shine. But when Michael was fouled, he called "game over." It didn't hurt that his team was ahead.

The warehouse staff refused to come in on Saturday. They ganged up on Michael, staring him down until he caved in and volunteered his office staff to come in.

Dwight waits by the bathroom and wants to talk to Michael about the downsizing rumors roaming around the office. Michael tells him that corporate wouldn't guarantee anyone's jobs.

Dwight talks to Jim and says it would be a good idea for them to form an alliance because of the downsizing. Jim tells him he absolutely wants to form an alliance, but it's mostly to mess with Dwight behind his back and prey on his suspicions.

Michael gets a card for Meredith and wants to write the funniest thing he can think of for her. In addition, he wants to lighten the mood in the office because of the downsizing rumors.

Jim tells Dwight that there's going to be an alliance meeting in the warehouse during Meredith's party. Dwight hides in a box waiting for someone to show, and Jim tapes it up. Dwight tells Jim he needs to go up to the party so no one gets suspicious.

Michael asks Meredith to read the card notes to her. Michael's says, "Lets hope the only downsizing that happens to you is that someone downsizes your age." No one laughs. He then tries out other lines and they also bomb, breaking up the party.

"Health Care" - Season 1

Jan came by to ask Michael which health care plan he decided to choose. When he said "the gold plan," which was the most expensive, she informed him that they were changing plans to save money and he had to pick a provider and choose the cheapest plan.

He had nothing.
